A blocked sanitary sewer drain can affect several fixtures at once. Common signs include toilets or floor wastes backing up, gurgling, slow drainage, unpleasant odours or overflow at the overflow relief gully (ORG).
Possible causes include tree roots, wipes and paper, foreign objects, accumulated material, displaced joints or damaged pipework. AAA will assess access and conditions and choose the clearing method that best suits the blockage.
High-pressure jetting is often useful for suitable lines containing grease, sludge, paper, wipes, sediment and other build-up. An electric eel can be useful where a harder or more localised physical obstruction needs to be worked through or cut. The exact method depends on the drain, access and pipe condition.
Where a blockage is recurring or a structural defect is suspected, CCTV inspection and electronic locating may be recommended after flow has been restored. Clearing a blockage does not repair an underlying pipe defect, so a drain may block again if the underlying cause remains.
If CCTV identifies a defect requiring excavation, structural repair or pipe replacement, AAA can help the customer seek separate quotes from an appropriate contractor. AAA does not advertise that repair work as an in-house service.
